It is very important to make everyone feel equally important. Sometimes it is hard for a student to admit that he or she needs help and if one feel's he has been treated unfairly, it can lower his self-esteem. Another important concept is that it is crucial for a tutor not to judge the tutee, or anyone, for that matter, based on appearance because everyone deserves a fair chance to let his full potential shine. Thirdly, find a way to "break the ice" and make the tutee feel comefortable and unafraid to gain the full benifits of the tutoring session.
